  • Abstract

An annotated catalogue is presented for six subfamilies of Elateridae from India: Hemiopinae, Hypnoidinae, Lissominae, Negastriinae, Tetralobinae, and Thylacosterninae. A total of 104 species, belonging to 19 genera, are recognised—of which 82 species were originally discovered and described from India, and 53 are considered endemic to India. Hemiopinae includes 10 spp. in two genera: Hemiops Laporte, 1838 (seven spp.) and Legna Walker, 1858 (three spp.). Hypnoidinae contains 20 spp. in two genera, both belonging to the same tribe, Hypnoidini: Hypnoidus Dillwyn, 1829 (19 spp.) and Ligmargus Stibick, 1976 (one sp.). Lissominae is represented by 12 spp. in two tribes: Lissomini and Protelaterini. Lissomini comprises three spp. in two genera: Drapetes Dejean, 1821 (s. str.; one sp.) and Lissomus Dalman, 1824 (two spp.). Protelaterini includes nine spp. in one genus, Senodonia Laporte, 1838. Negastriinae contains 59 spp. in two tribes: Negastriini and Quasimusini. Negastriini contains 32 spp. in five genera: Arhaphes Candèze, 1860 (six spp.), Cardiohypnus Fleutiaux, 1928 (six spp.), Hemirrhaphes Candèze, 1878 (one sp.), Tropihypnus Reitter, 1905 (five spp.), and Zorochros Thomson, 1859 (14 spp.; subgenus Zorochros 12 spp., subgenus Thurana Stibick, 1971 two spp.). Quasimusini includes 27 spp. in four genera: Miquasus Kishii, 1959 (six spp.), Quasimus Gozis, 1886 (17 spp.), Wittmeroquasimus Dolin, 1993 (three spp.), and Yukoana Kishii, 1959 (one sp.). Tetralobinae includes two species in the tribe Tetralobini, within two genera: Sinelater Laurent, 1967 (one sp.) and Tetralobus Lepeletier & Audinet-Serville, 1828 (s. str.; one sp.). Thylacosterninae is represented by a single species in the genus Cussolenis Fleutiaux, 1918. For each taxon, we provide the type locality, whereabouts of the type material, distribution in India, general distribution and literature relevant to the Indian records. Cussolenis wallacei Muona, 2020 is reported from India for the first time.
