Students of K J Somaiya School of Engineering (KJSSE), Team Data Guardians, secured 1st Place at Cosmic Fest 2026 held at Nehru Science Centre, Worli, Mumbai. The event was organized by The Sky Explorers in collaboration with GMRT Pune, ISRO, OAE Centre, and the Government of India.
The competition focused on the design and development of a low-cost Radio Telescope system capable of detecting and processing radio signals using principles of astronomy, electronics, communication systems, and innovation-driven engineering. More than 50 teams participated in the competition, out of which 22 teams were shortlisted for the final round. Team Data Guardians emerged as the overall winner through their innovative approach, technical implementation, and problem-solving abilities.
The winning team was also felicitated by Padma Shri awardee and distinguished ISRO scientist Dr. Vasudevan Gnana Gandhi for their exceptional performance. The team’s achievement reflects the culture of innovation, research, and technical excellence encouraged at KJSSE.
