The Two Year Masters Programme in Zoology is designed to cater to those minds who would like to delve deeper into the folds of the subject and select a specific area of specialization within these two years. At KJSSC, we offer two specializations: Oceanography and Entomology
Oceanography as the name suggests, is the study of the ocean and all that it holds. With depleting land resources, all attention is now focussed on the Blue depths of the planet to answer our growing needs. From biodiversity to fuels, water to pharmaceuticals, the ocean beds are abundant in all. Hence their study is of prime importance and also the need of the hour. Marine environments all around the world are increasingly vulnerable to climate change and resources extraction. Hence the study will also help conserve this valuable resource. The course is well planned and delivered by staff with research expertise in fish ecology, coral reef ecology, marine pollution, sustainable fisheries and aquaculture. It has been designed with industry input, to ensure that the student develops scientific and marine research skills.
Entomology, a relatively new programme, encompasses the study of Insects. Class Insecta is the most diverse of all animal classes, with its members found in every habitat on Planet Earth. The programme is tailored for those interested in biological science with emphasis on insects and other arthropods, including their distribution, behaviour, physiology, reproduction and economic importance. The coursework is more field based and demands keen interest in the outdoor.
