Chemistry

Doctor of Philosophy | Ph.D.

It is a research Programme inculcating Research and Innovation Aptitude. PhD in Chemistry is a doctoral degree in one of the branches of Science that spans over a period of 3-6 years. It is a detailed academic study and research and completes with the submission of an academic thesis on the subject that you engaged in research with. Nanomaterials and nanotechnology are the expanding branches of chemistry.

Moreover, the popular subjects studied over the course of the program include Coordination Chemistry, Organometallic Chemistry, Organic Synthesis, peptide synthesis, Nanoscience, Computational Chemistry etc.

Career Prospects

The main employers of chemistry are in the chemistry related industries: Pharmaceuticals, Agrochemicals, Metallurgical, Petrochemicals, Plastics and polymers, Food and drink industry, Paints and Pigments, Surfactants, Forensic Science etc. Government Jobs: Scientific Officer post in the labs of Defense Research Development and Organization (DRDO), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) and Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) (www.barc.gov.in) and in academics. Students can do Post doctoral fellowship in leading Research and Academic Institutions like:
