Doctor of Philosophy | Ph.D.

Department of Microbiology offers a regular Ph.D. in Microbiology programme in domains such as Medical Microbiology, Immunology, Applied and Environmental Microbiology, Microbial Biochemistry.The objective is to inculcate and enhance scientific temperament and critical thinking. The admission rules and eligibility criteria are as per the guidelines from University of Mumbai.

Ph.D. programme initiates with an application by the student, followed by selection, interview and preparation of the Research proposal in consultation with the Research Advisory Committee and supervisor. This is followed by the admission, course-work completion, approval of research topic.

Career Prospects

After completing Ph.D. in Microbiology, the future career prospects are:

  • Pursue Post-doctoral research in Microbiology
  • Serve as an Assistant Professor in a degree College
  • Serve as a Scientist in a Research institute.
  • Serve as a Microbiologist in a government/private sector
